Golden Portrait

“Using gold and black vinyl to depict one half of my identity that has been shrouded in mystery throughout my life. The journey of discovery to learn more about my Qizilbash heritage may be a long adventure that awaits.

Lapis Portrait

“Represents a very familiar piece to my identity. To myself, she is much more recognizable although there are still many sides of her that still acquire my discovery. For now she is the woman I gaze upon my mirror, who continues to stare back at myself.”

In Your Embrace

“This is the final piece of the series introducing the process of embracing my full identity. Laying down my vulnerability, accepting my past, discovering my future and falling love with my heritage opens a door to a new beginning."

Intertwining identities is a series made of vinyl on glass, depicting the artist’s journey of self discovery through romantic imagery. Inspired by Farsi epics and poetry, the series focuses on two figures from different ethnic groups (Hazara & Qizilbash) breaking down barriers and learning to connect through discovery, acceptance, vulnerability and pure passionate love.
